Smygin Igor Evgenyevich (born April 1, 1987, Ufa) is a Russian basketball player, a shooting guard, and a Master of Sport. In January 2010, he played for the basketball club "Nizhny Novgorod".[1]

Career

A product of the Ufa basketball school. In 2004–2006, he played for CSKA-2 (Moscow), with which he became champion of the Euroleague youth tournament.[1] He then played in succession for Standard (Tolyatti, 2006–07), Khimki (Moscow Region, 2007–08), and Universitet-Yugra (Surgut, 2008–09).[3]

In the first half of the 2009/10 season, he was on the roster of Khimki and was registered for a number of Russian Championship and Euroleague games, but did not receive any playing time. In January 2010, he moved to BC Nizhny Novgorod at the invitation of the team's head coach Zoran Lukic, who noted that the club needed a ready-made player capable of strengthening the roster immediately.[1] After his Nizhny Novgorod season, he returned to Universitet-Yugra (2010–11), then played for Ataman (Rostov-on-Don, 2011–12), Yenisey (Krasnoyarsk, 2012–13), Novosibirsk (2013–15), and Sakhalin (Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, 2015–17).[3]

Since 2017, he has been a player for Spartak-Primorye (Vladivostok). In the 2017/18 season, he played 49 games for the club in the Super League, averaging 10.9 points per game.[3]

Business Activity

In August 2018, Smygin registered in Ufa as a sole proprietor, with "Other sports activities" (OKVED 93.19) as his main line of business. The business was closed on May 26, 2022, at his own decision.[2]
