"Chyorny Prud" ("Black Pond") is a Nizhny Novgorod association of artists founded in January 1987 in Gorky (now Nizhny Novgorod). As of 2012, the group had nine members: Aleksei Akilov, Natalya Pankova, Sergei Sorokin, Sakharov), Galina Kakovkina, Nikolai Smetanin, Yakov Vasilchenko, Gennady Urlin, and Sergei Suvorov.[1]
2012 anniversary exhibition
In December 2012, marking the association's 25th anniversary, an anniversary exhibition opened at the Nizhny Novgorod State Exhibition Complex. The opening took place on 19 December 2012, and the exhibition ran until 13 January 2013. It featured about 50 paintings and graphic works: landscapes, portraits, still lifes, and abstractions.[1]
