Elektromash Plant — a Nizhny Novgorod enterprise in the field of radio-electronic equipment manufacturing, founded in 1943 in the Sormovsky District of the City of Gorky (now Nizhny Novgorod). It specializes in the development, manufacture, installation, repair, modernization, and servicing of weather radar systems and special-purpose radar complexes.[2] Located at 64 Fedoseyenko Street.
History of the Founding
The history of the plant effectively began in December 1942, when the first specialists arrived at a forested outskirt of the City of Gorky in the Sormovsky District. The future enterprise's site contained only a warehouse building, a small stone structure, and a few sheds surrounded by a pine forest.[2] Assembly lines were installed and facilities prepared around the clock; workers lived and slept right on the production floor. As early as March 1943, the front received the first shells produced at the new plant, and serial production began in April: the enterprise dispatched 50 railcars of ammunition daily for the Guards rocket launchers "Katyusha."[2]
On 28 August 1943, the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR passed a resolution granting the branch of the Dzerzhinsk plant named after Ya. M. Sverdlov the status of an independent enterprise under the People's Commissariat of Ammunition, under the name "State Plant No. 105" — this date is considered the plant's founding day.[2]
The War Years
During the Great Patriotic War, the plant operated under strict, near-military discipline, with an hourly schedule and a tightly organized supply system. Management organized competitions among work teams: the leading brigades were ceremonially awarded a rotating Red Banner and given vouchers for additional food rations. Production figures boards were updated daily, and the plant's wall newspaper "Za Rodinu" (For the Motherland) was published regularly. To provide the workforce with food, a subsidiary farm with arable land and a pig farm was established in the spring of 1943.[2]
Current Status
At various times the enterprise operated as a FGUP (federal state unitary enterprise), which was subsequently reorganized into a joint-stock company — JSC "Elektromash Plant."[2] In 2017, the plant participated in the 29th International Information Technology Exhibition "Svyaz-2017."[1] Plant employees took part in the festive parade in the Sormovsky District dedicated to the 72nd anniversary of Victory.[1]
