A village in Sormovo District between Varya and Sormovo.
Also known as Daryino-Vyselki.
Known since the 17th century; part of Sormovo since 1924. According to tradition, the name is connected with one of the robber sisters, Marya and Darya, who operated on the road along the Volga. Darya is sometimes said to have been the daughter of the robber Soroma. Besides the legend of the robber sisters, there is another tradition: the beautiful Maria had three daughters — Darya, Varyusha, and Parasha; after their husbands fell in battle, all three sisters died of grief, and the people named the villages Daryino, Varya, and Goryushkino in their memory, and the river Parasha. Daryino stands on the left bank of the Levinka River and is now a settlement-microdistrict built up with multistory buildings; formerly a small village stood on this spot in a dense forest.
From the second half of the 18th century, the village belonged to Balakhna Uyezd of Nizhny Novgorod Governorate; its older name was Daryina. According to the 1850 cartography of Nizhny Novgorod Governorate, the village of Daryina had 32 households.
