The closure of the Atoll water park in Kstovo was an event of 31 August — 1 September 2026, when the first water park of Nizhny Novgorod Region ceased operating after more than eleven years. The complex took its last visitors on 31 August 2026 and closed for good from 1 September.[1][3]
The water park's history
Atoll opened in February 2015 in the shopping centre of the same name on Lenin Square in Kstovo and became the first water park in Nizhny Novgorod Region.[1] According to press reports, the investor had originally planned to build only a shopping centre but settled on a version with an entertainment complex.[4] Atoll contained slides, pools, a bath house, jacuzzis and a children's area.[4] It worked daily from 10:00 to 22:00 and had a reputation as an affordable alternative to the large entertainment centres.[2]
The announcement and the last day
The management announced the coming closure on 1 July 2026 in the park's official VKontakte group: "Our water park is ceasing operations for good after 31 August 2026".[5] July and August the complex worked as usual.[4] Among the reasons named for the closure were tax problems, though no official confirmation followed.[1] The park's team thanked its visitors, recalling "millions of smiles, thousands of rides down the slides and hundreds of celebrations" over eleven years together.[2][3] Some visitors urged the management to seek subsidies from the regional authorities.[2] After Atoll ceased operating, one working water park remained in Nizhny Novgorod Region — Oceanis in Nizhny Novgorod.[3]
