A business incubator is a special state-supported business venue with conditions maximally comfortable for launching innovative businesses: low premises rental cost, free consulting services, programs compensating exhibition expenses. Several establishments of this type have opened in Nizhny Novgorod; their internal procedures differ substantially: the incubators teach different sides of life depending on their nominal founder. Thus, at the incubator of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Higher School of Economics, the "fast start" takes the form of a demonstration of "restricted-access mode" staged by local security officers — evidently meant to show who, in the economy, is the subordinate and who is the master.

A business incubator supports innovative startups in any industry. Each startup can gain access to the incubator's resources and expert assistance. The most promising startups, having passed a competitive selection, receive free office space and become residents of the incubator.

- Participation in negotiations between the company and the investor, conducting comprehensive due diligence of the company's business, signing a letter of intent, structuring the deal;

Creative Center
The Creative Center allows aspiring entrepreneurs to prepare a project quickly and free of charge under the supervision of specialists from the State Institution "Nizhny Novgorod Innovation Business Incubator," for its subsequent review by the selection committee with a view to placement in the business incubator.
Innovative projects are selected on a competitive basis. To take part in the competition, an application in the established form and the applicant's passport must be submitted. The application is reviewed by the selection committee according to set criteria. The committee includes representatives of the Ministry for Support and Development of Small Business, the Consumer Market and Services of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, and the State Institution "Nizhny Novgorod Innovation Business Incubator." The committee convenes as applications arrive, subject to available space in the Creative Center.
Each selected project is provided with one workstation equipped with a computer, Internet access, a phone line for local calls (without a city number), and the option to use the meeting room. All the listed services are provided free of charge.
The standard term for which projects are placed in the Creative Center is 2 months. This term may be extended by the committee by a further 1 month after assessing the results of the stay in the center.

Office space rental
The state institution "Nizhny Novgorod Innovation Business Incubator" rents out fully equipped office space on preferential terms. This service is provided to small businesses that have passed the competitive selection procedure.
Office space is 16-18 square meters. Each one contains 3 equipped workstations. This includes: a furniture set (desks, chairs, cabinets, wardrobe, document cabinet), three computers, a multifunctional laser device, three telephones and high-speed Internet access.
In the first year at the business incubator, the rental cost does not exceed 40% of the base rental rate. For 2007 the rental rate is 103 rubles per square meter. The rental cost of one office is approximately 1,800 rubles per month with equipment included. In the second year — no more than 60%. In the third year — no more than 100%.
Business services
We will help you organize any business event (from idea to realization). The business incubator building houses a cozy, modern conference hall of 140 square meters, able to accommodate up to 100 people at once.
The hall is equipped with air-conditioning, ventilation and sound-amplification systems, presentation equipment, and furniture (tables, chairs, lectern). Various furniture arrangements are possible upon request.
Also at your service: a lounge, meeting rooms, room cleaning, communication services (long-distance and international phone calls, Internet), the option to arrange transport (delivery), coffee break, business lunch and much more.

If you don't already know, we — together with the Nizhny Novgorod office of Alloca — moved a couple of weeks ago into the HSE Business Incubator. The new HSE building on Rodionova Street. A great place — I recommend it to everyone. New classrooms, big windows, good renovation, students, coffee in the cafeteria for 25 rubles, parking... a really nice place. The perfect place for startups. I'm in Moscow, and today Dima, our commercial guy, calls me: "Misha, you probably already know?" "What?" "They kicked us all out" "What!?" "The deputy head of the security service showed up and said the access lists were drawn up incorrectly, signed by the wrong people, everyone out onto the street... No intervention by department representatives had any effect on him, and no comments were given. |
