karelin.nino.ru — a website about the Nizhny Novgorod photographer Karelin Andrey Osipovich, which operated on the nino.ru domain from March 2001 to September 2021. Twenty years at a single address — together with Vadim Rybakov's page and the student portal, it is one of the longest-lived sites on the domain. The web archive holds 548 of its addresses [1].

What it contained

The main part of the site was a detailed chronological biography of the photographer — not a retelling, but an outline laid out year by year. It began with his birth: "1837, July 4 (16). Born in Soldatskaya Sloboda (the village of Seleznyi), Belomestno-Kriushinskaya Volost, Tambov Uyezd, Tambov Governorate. Illegitimate son of the state peasant woman Tatyana…" [2].

For 2001 this was a notable undertaking: biographies of Nizhny Novgorod figures hardly existed online at the time, and the site on the provider's subdomain became the photographer's first detailed source on the internet.

Who made it

Two copyright notices appeared in the footer of the pages: "© 2000 Graphit" and "© 1999 2D-Studio" [3]. That is, the site was built in two stages by two studios — first 2D-Studio in 1999, then the web studio Graphit, whose work the provider hosted on its domain, Nizhny Novgorod Information Networks.

The pages were served by an engine at addresses like /?id=202 — the same Treegraph system that ran on neighboring sites of the domain. The last snapshot is dated September 17, 2021: the site lasted until the very end of the domain [1].
