"Balakhna.ru" (balakhna.ru) is the city information portal of Balakhna, devoted to the life of the city and the Balakhna Okrug. It positions itself as the first and only local resource of its kind on this scale.[1] It does not have the status of a mass media outlet.

History

The portal was originally located at balakhna.nnov.ru. Its own domain, balakhna.ru, was registered in 2006: the web archive shows that as of 2 February 2007 the address balakhna.nnov.ru was already redirecting visitors to balakhna.ru.[4] On its "About the Project" page, the resource describes itself as a platform that brings together the city's resources and offers the means to find any information about Balakhna, both entertainment and business-related. The portal calls itself "the most popular internet resource of the Balakhna Okrug."[5][1]

Content and audience

The portal publishes city news, classified ads, a directory of organizations' phone numbers, transport schedules, a city map, a photo gallery, a weather forecast, and a TV guide; the site also hosts a forum and a chat.[1] According to the resource itself, its audience exceeds 80,000 visitors a month, and its statistics are publicly available.[2] The news feed covers events in Balakhna and in Nizhny Novgorod Region as a whole.

Social media presence and advertising

For advertising inquiries, the portal lists the phone number 8-962-512-80-60 and the email address gk_diamond@mail.ru. Besides the website, the editorial team runs a VKontakte group (vk.com/balakhnaru), a Telegram channel (t.me/balahnaru), and a MAX channel (max.ru/balakhnaru). The portal's VKontakte group serves as a venue for collective appeals by residents to the city authorities and utility providers: in particular, in March 2025, Balakhna residents posted a group complaint there about the quality of hot water supply, which drew wide attention and was brought to the notice of the administration of the Balakhna Municipal Okrug.[6][3]

The local newspaper "Rabochaya Balakhna" includes the Balakhna.ru portal in its list of recommended official websites for residents of the district, alongside the website of the administration and of social protection institutions.[7]
