Key facts of his career
From 1930 to 1951 he worked as a heating engineer at the Krasnoye Sormovo Plant, holding various leading positions in the fuel-and-furnace bureau and other bureaus and laboratories. From 1932 he also worked, part-time, as a teacher. He received the academic rank of docent in 1940 and defended his candidate's dissertation in 1945. He became a full-time docent of the Polytechnic Institute in 1951. After defending his doctoral dissertation, he founded a new department, "Metallurgical and Heating Furnaces," at the metallurgical faculty in 1960. Based on many years of work by the department's staff with numerous institutions across the country, a research field addressing the problems of solidification and the thermal physics of metallic materials was established. He was the author of 20 books and pamphlets, more than 330 scholarly works in all, and 35 inventions. He trained 29 candidates of science and supervised 4 doctoral dissertations.
